Whilst accepting the problems faced by the recent fire, the current location is bitterly cold, and difficult to get around and this in itself I should imagine creates problems for patients and staff, the staff wo dealt with us were very good.however in the initial stages of treatment we were a bit disappointed with early treatment.

Review of Ward C23 written by a patient

Can’t fault the staff who assisted/supported with delivery of my baby and looked after me on the ward post delivery. Nothing was too much trouble. Although my birth didn’t go to plan, the decisions which were made were explained and I was involved throughout. Great maternity service and staff a credit. Midwife Jonathan was particularly supportive and helped me feel at ease. Nurse Charlotte on the ward was so lovely too, supported me with first breastfeed and nappy change. Shame ward/facilities can’t be modernised, let’s it down.

Too many nurses that believe they are doctors. Medical staff unable to make decisions that make any sense or reflect the patients medics complaint. Consider what patients say and then ask for their opinion about treatment

I received excellent nursing care and the Carers were excellent too. The cleaners were good apart from one cleaner who came in over the weekend and did not do his job properly.

Review of Accident & Emergency Department written by a family member

The staff treating my husband (who has Alzheimers) were very caring and compassionate. The time spent in the hospital was a little excessive (6 hours) but my husband was given a cup of tea and a sandwich. He was quite obstructive, I think because he didn't understand what was required of him. It was, overall, a very tiring experience.

When eventually received, it was efficient, fast and thorough. We arrived in A&E Reception at 16:30. My step-granddaughter's name was taken by the receptionist, and we were directed to Minors. Iara was not seen until 19:15, because the Minors staff could not see her name on the Minors board. We were accompanied to Reception by a member of the Minors staff. We spoke to the receptionist to whom we had first spoken. He was amazed that we had waited that long. No reason was given as to why Iara was not locatable in the system by the Minors staff, nor was any apology offered.

-Get some water dispensers so there is no need to ask for water every hours or so. -Get some better chairs for husbands/partners so they can make most of the 24/7 vising policy (i.e. stay for the night). Also the toilet is miles away... -The staff seemed busy. I asked for pain killers for my wife and she got them 2h later after asking again. - My wife's bed was next to bins/sinks so it was a bit strange having people showing up sometimes...(when we had blinds open). But the worse was the loud noise when closing the metal bin lid. Mostly staff did it and did not care. Our newborn was 3 feet away from it and was waken up many times because of the loud noise. -Tea/Coffee/Biscuits/Cakes were offered to patients and sometimes to partners/husbands. I was unsure if I can ask for it or not - only waited to be offered one which was super nice from the staff. But it's unclear who gets it. Just offer it to both parents please :)

From the moment I walked in to the hospital which was followed by a 2 night stay for the birth of my little girl, I was treated with amazing care both before and after. All staff that tended to me were brilliant, making me also feel at ease. Thank You!!

Dr Phelan made me feel very involved about the decisions regarding my c section and I was very happy with the operation and all the staff and the way I was treated. All the ward staff were amazing especially Jessica who looked after me on c23 throughout the night. Thank you
